Project Runway gives DVF exclusive to AmEx cardholders

American Express cardholders got exclusive rights to purchase a limited edition dress from Diane von Furstenberg's fall line on Wednesday.

The legendary designer challenged "Project Runway" contestants to design a dress inspired by 1940s glamour girl Marlene Dietrich -- and the winner's dress is being sold to American Express cardholders for the bargain price of $650. "Project Runway," in case you haven't heard of it, is a reality TV show on the Bravo TV network that pits budding fashion designers against one another. And now you know why I never visit and my phone is turned off every Wednesday at 8 p.m. Central time.

Contestant Leanne Marshall won the challenge with a dress designed with a Tyrian purple fabric pulled from DVF's personal fabric stash, and she beat out the other contestants for the second week in a row, winning the challenge despite having immunity from elimination.

This is not the only Project Runway-related perk doled out to AmEx members. The behind-the-scenes AmEx after-show is broadcast on Bravo TV's Web site, but you have to be a cardholder to log on and watch.
