Tag cloud of what the Fed said, AND what it was thinkingEach time the Federal Reserve's rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee meets, it issues a closely analyzed post-meeting statement. Here's how today's statement looks in a tag cloud. (A tag cloud takes written statements, analyzes the frequency that words appear in it, and enlarges words in proportion of how often they appear.) action activity approved banks board business central chairman charles committee credit damping decided decline duke economic energy expenditures federal financial growth importantly interest kohn light market moderate monetary months open owing pace percent policy price promote prospects rate recent reduction related richard slowed spending stability steps target today voting warsh

Pretty serious stuff. However, we at CreditCards.com have, at no small expense, purchased telepathic tag cloud software that allows us to combine what a statement says, with what its writer was thinking. It goes like this: action activity approved banks board business central chairman charles committee credit damping decided decline duke economic expenditures failure federal financial growth importantly interest light market meltdown moderate months ohno omg open owing pace percent policy price promote prospects rate recent reduction related slowed spending stability target today voting warsh whyme

I think the thought cloud is a little off. I don't see any swear words in it.
But I see "duke" in the cloud. You think that was as in Randolph and Mortimer?
Excellent question. We exercised our judgment on the swear words, and decided to remove them. We decided we didn't want a six-inch tall **** on the site.
As for the Duke, yes, I believe it was Randolph and Mortimer Duke. I'm sure what was going through their minds was the descent of the Dukes from the extraordinarily wealthy swindlers in "Trading Places," to the penniless homeless men in "Coming to America." That's a thought that's been going through the minds of a lot of people on Wall Street, too.
