AmEx offers cardholders a luxury getaway

We all could use a little escape from the everyday once in a while. If you're an American Express cardholder and can clear some space on your calendar between Jan. 20 and Feb. 13, 2009, why not take some time off in the form of a luxurious 24-day, five-continent vacation?

AmEx cardholders who are willing to part with $97,970 (per person), will be given the experience to take off on such a getaway by American Express Travel and luxury travel firm Abercrombie & Kent, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Leaving from Los Angeles in a Boeing 757 converted into a private jet, you'll fly west with 49 other travelers, stopping at spots across the globe to sample "five-star hotels, gourmet dining and exclusive access to museums, events, local experts and private tours."

Always wanted to see the Rano Kau volcanoes of Easter Island? How about a private flamenco performance in Spain or an elephant polo match in India? You're in luck -- all those experiences are on the itinerary.

American Express cardmembers who want in on the trip should call 877-297-6685.

Don't forget to send me a postcard.
